When we look out at the stars, and the amazing intricacies of life, when we wonder what it all means and why we matter, somehow the simple act of loving transcends all of it and gives us a place of belonging, a reason for being.” – Carl Sagen

Home grown.  Passionate.  Vulnerable.  Imaginative.  Organic.

All words I would use to describe Molly and Rich’s relationship, as well as their wedding.

I quickly grew to love their story and the way they interacted during their engagement session.  Their first impression’s of each other were of a wild teenage nature (I’ll spare you the juicy details), and they knew all the words to speak to evoke huge laughter (Molly’s bathroom habits), passion, and most amazing to me, calm.  They so clearly grounded each other and their wedding proved that all the more, especially with the stories that were shared.

There was one part that really stuck out to me on top of their genius DIY elements and untraditional ideas- Molly’s mom making the dress, Rich taking Molly’s last name, grandma flower ladies, the reception/getting ready space in an amazing old tea house with camping outdoors afterwards, and fireworks to wrap up the night…

It was the best man’s, Rich’s brother’s, speech.  He talked about the transformation he got to witness as Rich was growing up, and the vast difference he saw after Rich met Molly.  He used a beautiful analogy of a butterfly- starting off as a caterpillar, going into their chrysalis, and eventually emerging as something totally fresh, new, and unexpected.  It was so clear that Molly changed Rich’s life, but unlike most “girl pulls guy out of darkness” stories, it’s obvious that Rich had an equally important and positive impact of Molly’s life, and that made this couple all the more beautiful, and made me feel all the more honored to share in such a special day.
